Rules & Conditions

The following guidelines outline the framework for participation in the Phi Photography Awards, ensuring fairness and transparency for all entrants.

These rules are designed to protect photographers, preserve fairness, and maintain the professional integrity of the Phi Photography Awards.

Participation Framework

Eligibility

The Phi Photography Awards is open to photographers aged 18 and above, irrespective of nationality, residency, or professional standing. Employees of the organizing entity, associated sponsors, and their immediate family members are ineligible to participate.

General Conditions

  • Submissions must be made through the official portal at phiphotoawards.com, following the provided upload and payment instructions.
  • Entrants authorize the storage and processing of registration data solely for competition administration purposes.
  • All photographers retain full copyright and ownership of their work. Images will never be used for commercial purposes without explicit consent. Submission grants only a limited, non-exclusive license for award-related promotion with photographer attribution.
  • There is no limit on the number of submissions. Images previously recognized in other awards are admissible, with no restrictions on capture date. You have complete creative freedom. Submit any work you believe represents your best photography.
  • Some entries may be subject to local rules that prevent them from being published due to local laws, but all entries will be judged fairly and equally by our international panel.
  • Images may be entered into multiple categories upon payment of corresponding fees.

How to Enter

  1. Create a complimentary account through the official registration page.
  2. Upload images or series, select categories, and include the required titles and descriptions.
  3. Complete payment of entry fees to receive confirmation of submission. You can pay for each photo separately or select multiple photos and pay at once. Optional credit bundles are available for photographers submitting many images or categories.
  4. Please note: After payment is completed, entries cannot be modified or replaced, so please verify your files before submitting.

Preparing Files

  • Files must be in JPEG format, using sRGB or Adobe RGB color space, 8-bit depth.
  • Minimum dimension of 2,500 pixels on the longest edge. Maximum file size of 5 MB.
  • No watermarks, borders, or identifying marks are permitted.
  • Filenames must be limited to letters, numbers, dashes, or underscores.
Note: For the 2025-2026 edition, entries with explicit nudity are not accepted and should not be submitted.

Copyright

Entrants retain complete copyright ownership. Submission grants only a limited, non-exclusive license for use in award-related contexts, with attribution always provided. No commercialization or unrelated licensing occurs. Your work is protected and respected at all times.

Judging

  • Judging is conducted anonymously by an independent international panel of award-winning photographers and industry experts.
  • Category outcomes are based on aggregate scores. The overall winner and Phi Golden Ratio winner are selected from leading works.
  • Decisions are final and are not subject to appeal or discussion.
  • Finalists are notified via email within three weeks after judging.

Credit Bundles Available: Discounted bulk credits for multiple submissions are available in your panel, offering substantial savings for photographers entering multiple categories or images.

The Final Extended Deadline will not be extended further. All fees are listed in USD.

Prizes

  • Photographer of the Year: $1,000 USD cash prize, official Phi Trophy, featured interview, dedicated spread in the annual publication, and prominent virtual exhibition placement.
  • Phi Golden Ratio Winner: Selected by our judges for exceptional artistry in the Golden Ratio category. Receives $500 USD cash prize, special Phi Golden Ratio Prize, and recognition across all award platforms.
  • Category Winners: Interview publication, digital certificate of excellence, inclusion in the annual publication, and virtual exhibition inclusion.
  • Top 3 Category Finalists: Interview publication, digital certificate of excellence, inclusion in the annual publication, and virtual exhibition inclusion.
  • All Accepted Entries: Virtual exhibition participation, possible inclusion in the annual publication, and digital certificate of participation.

Cash awards are disbursed in USD via secure transfer. Recipients are responsible for any associated fees. No substitutions or alternatives are available.
