Alberto Burri's Grande Cretto, located in Gibellina, is one of the most impressive works of Land Art in the world. It stands on the ruins of the city destroyed by the Belice earthquake in 1968: Burri chose not to rebuild, but to “cement” the memory. The work appears as an immense white shroud that traces the ancient urban layout. Walking among its high crevices means walking along the old streets, now transformed into a labyrinth of silence and reflection. It is a monument of unique visual and emotional power, capable of transforming tragedy into an eternal form of art.
