In my current series, The Beautiful & the Fragile, I explore the paradoxical nature of plastics: their aesthetic appeal and versatility contrasted with their destructive impact on the environment, especially the oceans. Using stress optics, I reveal the internal tensions within plastic objects. By deforming the material and capturing it through macro photography and polarized light, I create intricate structures and vibrant colors that highlight both beauty and fragility.
The series is not only an aesthetic exploration but also a reflection on the pervasive presence of plastics in our ecosystem. My work aims to provoke awareness and encourage critical thinking about how we interact with these materials, highlighting the tension between human fascination and environmental responsibility.
