About the Photos:
Faces of Iraq is a documentary portrait series that centres on everyday Iraqis, moving beyond headlines to place a lens on people and ethnic groups from northern Kurdistan to the south of Basra who are often misunderstood or at risk of being forgotten. Photographed primarily in natural light, each image represents a distinct perspective, community, or place within Iraq’s borders, highlighting both diversity and connection. The photographs do not seek to dramatize conflict, but to acknowledge lived reality within communities rebuilding after violence and extremism.
