About the Photos:
From 2006-2018 I was the official International tour photographer for The Australian Ballet, travelling to Paris, Tokyo, London, Beijing, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles. As well as documenting behind the scenes moments, I developed a personal project of photographing the dancers in the streets of the iconic cities we visited. By removing the artists from their controlled, interior environment and placing them in gritty landscapes, their stylised classical form juxtaposed with the everyday reality of city living creates a joyful, humorous take on the traditional ballet portrait.
