In one of the most harrowing images of the rescue, a man floats exhausted in the sea, on the verge of collapse, after jumping into the water out of fear of being returned to Libya. The Libyan Coast Guard had just appeared and panic spread across the boat. He was one of six who jumped without hesitation. The Open Arms team reacted immediately, deploying rescue equipment to save them all.
