My photographs in this series combine my love of science, experimentation and photography. These are photographs of real crystals formed from a variety of substances, including sugar alternative sweeteners, cleaning agents, medicines, acids, and whatever else I can find that will crystallise. Melted or evaporated on glass slides and seen in polarised light through a 1970 polarising microscope, they create flowing fields of colour and shape. The colours come only from the interaction of polarised light and crystal. Often mistaken for AI or digital or painted works, they are 100% real.
